On hot, sunny days, water parks are the ideal place to cool down and have some family fun, but they’re not just for the summer. In North America, there are numerous indoor water parks too. According to the World Waterpark Association there are now over a thousand water parks of varying sizes all across North America. Here are 5 of the best, both indoor and outdoor…


Noah’s Ark Water Park
Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
One of the most popular family-fun leisure attractions in the Wisconsin Dells, Noah’s Ark Water Park also has the accolade of ‘largest water park in the United States’. Open from May through to September, this place is vast, set over 70 acres with two pools and around 50 different water slides. It’s definitely somewhere for the whole family.

World Waterpark
Edmonton, Alberta
Situated within the huge West Edmonton Mall in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, World Waterpark is another wet-and-wild attraction with an impressive claim to fame – the largest indoor water park in North America, and the second largest in the world. But it doesn’t stop there – its wave pool is the world’s largest indoor wave pool, making this the perfect place to catch some waves, and there are over 20 different water slides to try out too.

Fallsview Indoor Waterpark
Niagara Falls, Canada
If you’re taking the family to see Niagara Falls, then you should leave some free time to visit Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. Located on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, this indoor water playground is open all year round and is one of the largest in North America. It features a wave pool as well as several other smaller pools and 16 water slides.

The family owned and operated Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort was first opened in New Braunfels, Texas in 1979. Atlanta, Georgia
The Six Flags name is synonymous with theme parks and family fun, and Six Flags White Water is no exception. Set over 69 acres, this outdoor water park is just outside Atlanta, Georgia and is open seasonally. There are around 20 different rides, including slides and a lazy river, perfect for beating the Southern US summer heat!
